Public Works Department Information

Our collection routes start very early in the morning. Even if route times are consistent, something may change at any given time, causing collection schedules to be sooner or later than expected. It is recommended that you place your collection can(s) at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.

Our trucks need sufficient space to lift Garbage and Recycling cans safely and effectively. Therefore, residents must place their cans 6 feet apart from other objects such as mailboxes, cars, etc. Additionally, cans must be placed at least 3 feet apart from each other. If there is not enough space for the truck to safely lift the can, we cannot guarantee your Garbage or Recycling with be collected and you will need to drop it off at the Recycling Yard. Items placed at the curb become Borough property and only the Borough may collect them. Recyclables will not be collected if placed in plastic bags.

Cancellations Due to Severe Weather
During severe weather, Borough Hall may close, and Garbage and/or Recycling Collection may be cancelled. If there is a cancellation, it will be posted on the website and an RSS Feed for "DPW News & Bulletins" will be sent out via Code Red. Please do not call the Police Department to find out about cancellations. We need to keep the police lines open for emergencies.
